Scholarships for the Blind
Concert with Montserrat Caballe and Montserrat Marti
In the beginning of January 1999 two Hungarian English teachers asked me to support their project: they organized a concert on the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy with world famous artists Monserrat Caballe, Montserrat Marti, and Manuel Burgueras. The two teachers needed a foundation the help of with they can make there plans come true. The income of the concert was given to the blind as language- and musical scholarship, helping them to pay their lessons.
This whole project was an absolutely spontaneous challenge, and that is why I took it. It was a huge success anyway, as from the income we could support three children each with 200 000 Forints, and one other with 150 000 forints.
The scholarships went to:
- Judit Gombas (English)
- Maria Erzsebet Benko (German and English)
- Roland Szilagyi (piano)
